Don Bosco Youth Centre Launches New Website to Enhance Accessibility and Outreach

Shillong, 28th February 2025: The Don Bosco Youth Centre, one of the premier institutions in Shillong dedicated to fostering the holistic development of youth, officially launched its website today, www.donboscoyouthcentre.com. The event, held at the Centre’s premises, marked an important milestone in the Centre’s journey towards embracing the digital age and providing easier access to information for students, parents, and the community at large.

The website was officially launched by Father Michael Makri SDB, the Director of Don Bosco Youth Centre, in the presence of staff, students, and faculty members. The project was a collaborative effort spearheaded by the Centre’s Computer Department, where staff worked diligently to develop a user-friendly and informative platform. Father Makri, in his speech during the launch event, emphasized the importance of staying relevant in an increasingly digital world. He expressed pride in the work accomplished by the Computer Department, who have transformed the Centre’s operations by introducing a digital presence that will now facilitate easier access to all its offerings.

"The launch of this website represents a step forward in making Don Bosco Youth Centre’s programs, courses, and activities more accessible to the wider community. This platform will serve as a window for the world to see the vibrant activities that take place here, and we hope it will be a tool that empowers young people and their families to make informed decisions about their future," said Father Makri during his address.

The website offers comprehensive information about the Centre’s various courses, which include technical, vocational, academic, and extracurricular programs. For students, it provides an easy-to-navigate interface where they can explore available courses, admission procedures, and even register for programs online. Information on the Centre's cultural and recreational activities, such as singing, dancing, and sports competitions, is also prominently featured, allowing students to stay up-to-date on upcoming events and opportunities.

The website aims to showcase the holistic approach that Don Bosco Youth Centre takes in educating and nurturing its students. Besides academic and vocational programs, the Centre is renowned for its emphasis on character-building activities, such as music classes, sports, leadership development, and community engagement. The website serves as a platform to highlight these initiatives, ensuring that potential students and their families can get a clear picture of what the Centre offers beyond traditional education.

For the students, the website is not just an informational tool but also an interactive one. They can access their schedules, check for updates on events, and stay informed about deadlines for competitions or programs. The website is designed to enhance communication between the Centre and its students, making it easier for them to engage with the various resources offered by Don Bosco Youth Centre.

In addition to showcasing the Centre's programs and activities, the website also includes sections dedicated to the history of Don Bosco Youth Centre, its vision, and mission, reinforcing the Centre's commitment to the growth and development of young people.

The launch of the website is a significant step towards achieving the Centre’s goal of becoming a more accessible and inclusive institution. It will make the Centre’s offerings more visible to the public, ensuring that students from various backgrounds have equal access to the wealth of opportunities available at Don Bosco Youth Centre.

As the digital landscape continues to evolve, the website will serve as a vital communication tool to connect with current and prospective students, faculty, and the wider community, fostering greater engagement and participation in the Centre’s mission to shape the leaders of tomorrow.
