Welcome to Don Bosco Youth Centre in Shillong, a premier IT training school empowering youth through affordable skill development. Our center offers a wide range of courses including computer programming, media production, soft skills training, tailoring, stenography, and beautician courses. We cater to both beginners and advanced learners, providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
For quite some years, the Salesians felt the need to open a Youth Centre, which would be available to young people. There is a constant inflow of student population from neighbouring States. Fr. Mathai Kochuparampil, S.D.B, the Provincial of Guwahati province, formally announced the opening of Don Bosco Youth Centre on the occasion of the Provincial Chapter, held at Pastoral Centre, Tripura Castle Rd, Shillong on April 23rd -27th, 1983. Fr. Joseph Cilia, S.D.B was appointed Director of the same. The building chosen to house the Centre was a big hall (140X30ft) which was originally built about 40 years ago for various activities, and which, in recent years, served as Science Laboratory for St. Anthony's College, also a Salesian venture. In 1983, St. Anthony's College was shifted to the new premises, thus rendering the spacious hall vacant. The hall was partitioned into three rooms with a very small chapel attached. The centre began to function in August 1983 and was blessed by the new Provincial, Fr. John Kalapura, on 20.5.1984. Today DBYC is an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Institution and is a Training Partner with SkillIndia. It is offering more than 30 Short Term Courses.

I am delighted to welcome you to Don Bosco Youth Centre (DBYC) in Shillong, a place where dreams are nurtured and futures are built. As a premier IT training school, DBYC is dedicated to empowering youth through affordable and accessible skill development programs. We take pride in offering a wide range of courses including computer programming, media production, soft skills training, tailoring, stenography, and beautician courses. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced learner, our center provides a supportive and inclusive environment to help you grow and succeed.
The vision for a Youth Centre in Shillong has been a long-standing dream of the Salesians. Recognizing the need for a space dedicated to young people, especially with the constant inflow of students from neighboring states, the initiative took shape under the leadership of Fr. Mathai Kochuparampil, S.D.B, the Provincial of Guwahati province. On April 23rd–27th, 1983, during the Provincial Chapter at Pastoral Centre, Tripura Castle Rd, Shillong, the formal announcement was made for the opening of Don Bosco Youth Centre. Fr. Joseph Cilia, S.D.B was appointed as the first Director, and the center began its humble journey in a spacious hall originally constructed for other activities. Over the years, the hall, previously serving as a science laboratory for St. Anthony's College, was transformed to house the Youth Centre, with a small chapel included.
The Centre officially began its work in August 1983, and was blessed by the new Provincial, Fr. John Kalapura, on May 20th, 1984. Today, DBYC has grown into an ISO 9001:2015 certified institution and a Training Partner with SkillIndia, offering more than 30 short-term courses aimed at enhancing the skills of our youth.
